If you use a video card does your main processor do any of the work?

I currently have a Intel duel core 2.33gz processor and using a Geforce 8600gt video card. I built a new computer system and now have a AMD Athlon II x4 640 quad processor. If I use the same video card will my cs2 processing of photos be any quicker? If no then the video card must do all the processing work?
